Steroid eye drop usage
I was prescribed by an eye doctor brismox d and alcarex-kt eye drops for my allergic conjunctivitis for 15 days. Dosage as follows- brismox d was prescribed for 6 times a day and alcarex-kt was for 4 times a day. Now, after 10 days, i am feeling fine and consulted again the same doctor. He told to continue brismox d for next 10 days BD and next 10 days OD and alcarex-kt same as before. What should i do ? how many days should i take the brismox-d eye drop as i heard steroid eye drops long term usage creates unnecessary side effects. Please advice me and guide me. i have to undergo a fistula surgery in next few days. Thank you

Hello If you follow the correct protocol of tapering dosages of steroid eye drop, like your doctor has rightly did it after every 10 days, we can minimise the side effects resulting from it. Basically, no abrupt start or stop of any steroid eye drop. Hope that clears your query. Thank you!
Next Steps
Avoid eye rubbing and keep a good follow up with your Ophthalmologist.
