Hello dear, here is a simple sperm donation process:
1. Screening & Eligibility
Before donation, the donor undergoes tests for:
Medical history & physical exam
Infectious diseases: HIV, hepatitis B & C, syphilis, etc.
Genetic screening: to rule out hereditary disorders
Semen analysis: checks sperm count, motility, and quality
2. Semen Collection
Find nearby sperm bank and give a semen sample by masturbation in a private room at the sperm bank.
The sample is collected in a sterile container and immediately analyzed.
Some banks require periods of abstinence (2–5 days) before donation.
3. Freezing & Quarantine
The semen is frozen (cryopreserved) in liquid nitrogen.
It’s kept in quarantine for 6 months.
After 6 months, the donor is retested for infections before the sample is cleared for use.
4. Use of Donated Sperm
Once cleared, the sperm can be used for:
Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
In vitro fertilization (IVF)
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
5. Compensation
Donors may receive modest compensation for their time and effort (varies for clinic).
6. Confidentiality & Legal Aspects
Donor identity is usually kept anonymous, though in some cases, identity disclosure is allowed after the child reaches a certain age.
