High Lp(a) significantly raises your risk for cardiovascular events like heart attacks, strokes, peripheral artery disease (PAD), and aortic valve disease (aortic stenosis) in the future. It increases risk regardless of other factors like high cholesterol, hypertension, or diabetes, and it's a leading inherited risk for heart disease. Lp(a) particles are prone to building up in artery walls (atherosclerosis) and promoting blood clots, which can block blood flow. It contributes to inflammation, making existing plaques more likely to rupture and cause a sudden blockage. Seek Specialist Advice, Consult a cardiologist, as management can be complex and new therapies are emerging Aggressively manage other risk factors (diet, exercise, blood pressure, LDL cholesterol).
