These lifestyle changes would be of help: - Steam inhalation regularly to open your sinuses - Avoid smoke as it irritates nasal membranes. - Use a humidifier or nasal spray to keep the sinuses moist. - Don’t swim in chlorine pools or contaminated water. - Identify unknown allergies and effectively treat fungal infections such as Candida. - Avoid feather, old, and/or moldy pillows, which frequently are the cause of allergies. - If you have “silver” dental fillings, get an evaluation from a mercury-free dentist who specializes in the safe removal of mercury amalgam fillings as mercury in the body damages immune cells. - Exercise regularly by biking or by walking but don't overexert as it will lead to flaring up of the sinuses - Eat foods rich in vitamin C, chili peppers, ginger, garlic, horseradish, pineapple, omega-3 essential fatty acids rich such as salmon, fish oil, avocados, sprouted walnuts, organic vegetables, ground flax seed, virgin coconut oil. - Drink purified water throughout the day. - Avoid food such as dairy products, eggs, wheat, corn, refined carbohydrates (white flour, white rice, etc.), food containing refined sugar or artificial sugar-substitutes, alcoholic beverages in excess, cheese , wine, mushrooms, pickled foods, sweetened fruit juices, Carbonated soft drinks, oysters, clams, lobster, tuna, mackerel, swordfish, hot dogs, bacon, Monosodium glutamate (MSG), hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, limit caffeine intake. If problem are persistent and worsen visit an ENT doctor.
