Iv sedation is safer compared to general anesthesia.Depending on the procedure you are likely to undergo, anasthesist will decide.Anasthesists are highly trained to deal with the adverse effects of anasthesia .They monitor the patient continuously during the stage of anasthesia.
Regional anaesthesia is always considered a safer option as compared general anaesthesia.
And anaesthesists are trained enough to manage any associated complications...
