Schizophrenia is a disease condition which impairs the thinking and analyzing capacity of patient causing delusions (fixed ideas), hallucinations (mostly auditary) presenting as "talking to self" and disorganised behaviour presenting as reduced self care and violent behaviour. In severe cases, where the patient is violent and threatens harm to self or others and/or denies to take medications along with above symptoms, hospitalization for about 3 months becomes mandatory.
