By medication what are you trying to target? As the diagnosis written is mental retardation which is intellectual deficit. You have to understand that no medication has been proven to enhance intelligence. If you are targeting behavioural changes then the medications depend on what the bahavior is? If he is muttering to himself or getting irritated then risperidone only we can take to higher dose. If anger is the main issue then mood stabiliser like valproate, carbamepine will work great. If it's happening because of depression then antidepressants can be used. Detailed history is needed for the same.
