Red Swelling on hand
My mother has Osteoarthritis. 3 days ago one of her fingers of her right hand started paining. She gave hot treatment to that place but it didn't do anything. So, then we thought of giving ice treatment in that area. But it has caused more swelling. Can you please guide me how to treat it? and if it is dangerous?

Osteoarthritis is not related to the issue in question . Would like to know a few more details in history for proper assessment , before providing an appropriate opinion & further plan of action . The problem in the picture and osteoarthritis is un related , however she can take NSAIDS after physician consultation.

The image you have attached here indicates it may be inflammation of the tendons over the thumb or localised overlying skin infection cellulitis.is she diabetic? Any injury to the hand?
