It's great to hear that you're interested in pursuing psychology as a career. From what you've shared, you're currently studying psychology from IGNOU and have a passion for the field. The information you have shared shows that you have a good understanding of psychological concepts.
To answer your first question, yes, you can become a successful psychologist. Becoming successful in any field requires hard work, dedication, and persistence. With a passion for psychology and the willingness to put in the effort, you can achieve your goals.
To become a counselling/education/school psychologist, you'll need to complete a Master's degree in psychology and for clinical psychologist you have to pursue a M.Phil/PsyD degree in a specialised area of psychology. You'll also need to obtain a license to practice as clinical psychologist. The specific requirements may vary depending on the place and profile you are working for, so it's important to do your research and speak with professionals in the field to get accurate information.
In terms of discrimination based on your educational background, it's important to remember that your skills, knowledge, and experience are what ultimately matter in the field of psychology. I have completed my Bachelor's in Psychology from IGNOU and pursuing higher education in the field so I feel I am in a position to guide you better.
As for job opportunities in psychology, there is currently a shortage of trained psychologists in many parts of the world, which means there are many opportunities for those who are qualified. You could work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, schools, clinics, private practices and many more.
I encourage you to trust the process and book an appointment with a professional in the field to discuss your career goals and the steps you need to take to achieve them. A qualified professional can give you personalised advice based on your specific situation and help you create a plan for success.
Remember, pursuing a career in psychology can be challenging, but also rewarding. If you're passionate about the field and willing to put in the work, you can become a successful psychologist. Good luck!
