I was purchasing vegetables, when the vendor kept on swirling a wet plastic bag in air to dry it. I was wearing a mask but it was a bit loose on the sides. Even though he was 5-6 feet away from me I felt water drops on my face. As shop is close by I returned after 3-4 mins to my house but due to hot weather, I started gasping for breath as I closed my main gate. I tried to blow my nose to counter the gasping but kept on inhaling a few times before I could remove the mask and helmet.
If any water droplets would have gone in my nostrils, can they due to the gasping, inhaling a few times and blowing nose at the same time cause the water droplets to get sucked up or go up to upper regions of my nasal passages or near the olfactory nerves to cause N Fowleri infection? Should I be worried? I am sorry for asking repeatedly about N Fowleri. This fear is affecting my life and you all are the ones I can trust . I feel embarrassed even asking now after taking many paid consultations too.

N fowleri is an extremely rare infection caused by bathing in warm freshwater environments like lakes, rivers and hot springs. It's extremely rare that only about 20 cases have been reported so far in India.
To protect yourself from Naegleria fowleri while swimming, follow these steps:
1.Avoid Warm Freshwater: Steer clear of swimming in lakes, ponds, rivers, and hot springs, especially during the summer when water temperatures are high.
2.Use Nose Clips: Use nose clips or pinch your nose shut to prevent water from entering your nose when swimming or diving.
3.Keep Head Above Water: Keep your head above water when swimming in hot springs and other naturally hot waters.
4.Avoid Disturbing Sediment: Avoid stirring up the sediment at the bottom of shallow bodies of warm fresh water, as this is where Naegleria fowleri is most likely to be found.
5.Use Safe Water for Nasal Irrigation: If you use tap water for nasal irrigation, boil it for 1 minute and let it cool before using it. Alternatively, use distilled, sterile, or filtered water.
If you're so much pre occupied by these thoughts kindly take a Psychiatrist consult and start anti anxiety medications if need be.Hope this helps.
