Pulmonary embolism without DVT

Asked for Male, 57 Years

My fathere is having pulmonary embolism and got treatment as well .he was facing blood in sputum ...but during treatment doctor wont find any clots in legs or hand or any part of body...so how it was possible ..no surgery or injury record ..what things need to take care now
