The generally recommended treatment for CNS lymphoma is protocols involving chemotherapy, usually started with chemotherapy if patient is able to tolerate . If not tolerating or not responding to chemotherapy then would recommend radiation therapy alone .
The final decision is based on patients current general condition and the disease status , and protocols involving only radiation are also used in some situations.
Proton therapy is type of radiation which is expected to have better efficacy , lower normal tissue toxicity .
