He is a friend of mine. He is a chain smoker for the past 3 to 4 years now he is facing problem in breathing, his chest pains some time even where the heart is located. He is unable to intake the reqd quantity of air

Hello yes it's quite possible that the capacity of the lung is decreased because of smoking.. As naturally the normal cells would be replaced and it does cause repeated infections are leading to abuse.. I would suggest you to meet a pulmonologist and also get some investigations like X-ray done... thank you
