PrEP Rabies Vaccine - Dogs lick everyday
Hi doc. Related questions are already answered numerous times in practo but one point is always missed, I want to ask. After getting PrEP immunization, if I feed and play with unknown and different stray dogs everday whom I don't see again, and they have licked me. Do I need to keep getting 2 booster vaccines repeaterdly everyday/month as a precaution? Or do I need to get antibody titres checked every 6 months during the initial 2yrs period after the primary vaccination? Or what is to be done in my case? I have attached an image of a page on pre-exposure prophylaxis an excerpt from government of India national guidelines for rabies prophylaxis. But answer to my question isn't mentioned there.

If you are dealing with stray animals every day then keep up with antibody titres and booster immunisation.

Booster dose not required. You check the antibody titre level in a period of 6 months. Moreover mere licking doesn't transmit rabies because rabies virus spreads through nerves. Consult in case of emergency under Practo.
