Posterior vitreoua detachment
Previously i asked what time it takes for the process of PVD to completely manifest. I have a related question. As per definition, posterior vitreous detachment is vitreous chamber detaching from the retinal surface. A doctor told me it takes  a few weeks, 4 at tops. For someome with mild myopia that got early onset PVD at mid twenties, how long does the process of detaching from the retina take? A month? 6? A year??? would be amazing if you could help me with a tentative timeframe.

PVD is a physiologic process, which occurs naturally in most eyes, earlier so in myopic eyes, eyes with uveitis or in eyes following trauma. The completion of PVD is estimated to be compete by 6 weeks approximately (2 weeks give or take). Retinal detachment on the other hand is a pathologic process which may occur in association with an evolving PVD, trauma or may other pathologic conditions. Retinal detachment is a fairly rapid process which occurs following the formation of a  retinal tear and depending on the location of the tear, the detachment progresses. If it is a superior(upper part) retinal break/tear if progresses within minutes to hours while an inferior(lower)break progresses relatively slowly... But there are exceptions again to the rule..
Next Steps
Coming to your query- you need to get a retina check up regularly every 6 months or so to confirm the status of the retina. Sometimes we can locate a recently developed retinal hole in time and laser it to prevent progression to retinal detachment.
Health Tips
If you have sudden onset of flashes and/or floaters you need a retinal checkup immediately. If pre-existing floaters are seen to suddenly increase with some appreciable change in number of floaters ..then also you need to go for a retinal checkup Do not be anxious about something just because information is provided to you. Be alert and aware, get your retina checked periodically. Wishing you best of health always
