Post symptoms After NCC
I was diagnosed with neurocysticercosis about 5 years ago and completed treatment. I was told that the cyst had resolved. However, since then, I have been experiencing ongoing symptoms. My concentration and focus have reduced, and I am unable to study or work for long periods. Prolonged concentration leads to headaches and eye pain. I have major memory problems, including difficulty recalling information and finding words while speaking. I often feel dizzy, excessively sleepy, mentally foggy, and my head feels heavy and unfocused. These symptoms are affecting my daily functioning and studies. My questions are: 1. Can these be long-term effects of treated neurocysticercosis? 2. Could residual changes like calcification or inflammation cause these symptoms? 3. Should I undergo further tests such as MRI brain, EEG, or blood tests (B12, D, thyroid)? 4. What treatment options are available to improve concentration, memory, and headaches? Please advise on the next steps.

U have the initial MRI scan 5 years back. We are not sure whether it is resolved of it. Need to do an MRI Brain with contrast to be sure. The symptoms u had are usually not the long term effects of NCC. Residual disease can cause symptoms of seizures, altered sensorium.
Next Steps
Repeat a MRI Brain with contrast and review with a neurologist. based on the MRI and clinical evaluation, medications can be prescribed.
