Position of placenta & maturity
My wife is carrying our second child, due date is by end of aug 2017. Based on the reports doctor said Position of placenta is Extending in to lower segment margin 3 cm from internal os. She said c section required also during the procedure she may bleed a lot, also at a point we may need to remove the uterus(womb), we are worried.pls suggest

Was her previous delivery also by lscs? If yes n if  the placenta is anterior then Doppler to rule out acreta should be done. If not The placenta is lowlying , it is not completely or partially covering the OS so mostly the surgery should be uneventful , she might bleed more than average n might require blood transfusion . the removal of uterus is the last resort that is taken before that there r a lot of medicines that can be given to contract the uterus n ligation procedures  to stop bleeding but all the risks even remote have to explained to the patient hence ur doctor has told them to u .
