Pain in left leg

I've been having unbearable sharp pain in my top part of my left leg, it is the front of my leg, and not the side, my muscle does not pain if i put pressure on it...it just starts for a bit, and then goes away. and then all of a sudden I feel a sharp pain that brings tears to my eyes, at times
