My brother says he is homosexual
My brother has recently confessed to me that he is interested in guys and has had sex with multiple guys till now. He also told that he is in love with one guy. After all this, he doesnt ever want to get married since it would only ruin the girl's life. To that fact, I too support this point. But I can't digest the fact that he is gay. He told that it is possible that he might be bisexual but he is almost sure that he is not. My parents or family would never be able to handle it. Is it possible that he is not exactly sure of what he thinks, is it possible that he can be attracted to women and get married in his future? No treatment or psychological help can make my parents understand or take this fact. What should I do? Get him help or talk to him or tell my parents?

Each man is born with same genitals, but that determines a biological sex of the person and his gender. But as he grows up some men develop an attraction for men. This is there in the minds since childhood and after puberty when sexual feelings arise, this attraction can become sexual. The men who have attraction to men and feel they are not attracted to females, are gay men. To be Gay is NOT unnatural. Even animals are known to have male to male sex activities at times. Similarly some men who live in exclusive company of only men, say in prison, or in army etc men tend to use other men to fulfill their sexual needs. This is situational sex. It doesnot mean that everyone there is Gay. To be gay doesnt mean one has to have just sex. Some men who are gay dont have sex with men, and they can have liking of men and prefer to be with men, with NO attraction to women. Thus to be gay the thoughts are more important than sex. If your brother has told you he is gay and has had sex with other men, then it is most likely that he is gay. If he is confused, he can meet a sex counselor or psychologist or psychiatrist. previously it was believed that "gayness" was caused by some hormonal imbalance, etc, but now the world over, being Gay is not considered to be a mental problem. and Gay men are as normal as other men are.
Next Steps
Everyone who is born doesnt need to marry. We have many men who have remained unmarried but they occupy the highest posts in the country, so marriage is NOT the goal for anyone. Yes, Marriage does offer companionship and it may be a desire to spend the twilight years of life with a steady companion. This is why many countries the world over have accepted this companionship and allow Men to marry men, Not for sex, or for having a child but for companionship.
Health Tips
Whether a person is bisexual or not depends on his ability to have both men and females in his mental frame and being comfortable with both sexes with attraction to both, physically and sexually. Some sexologists say being gay could be a "phase" of life where attraction to men is stronger and hence that becomes a prominent aspect, but later a person can change his orientation and be comfortable with women too. Mostly this is very uncommon. But Not impossible. Since India doesnot have gay friendly laws and in fact sex between men is considered to be a crime, Gay men do get married as they want to conform to the societal and parental pressures to have a marriage and a child. But many of these men face sexual problems.
