Hello, we can understand your problem, yes it could cause problem,, but there are several causes of irregular periods, like stress, overweight, hypothyroidism, PCOS, reproductive tract infections etc,, each has different risks, please consult a gynecologist, try to find the cause for the irregular periods and you will get solution for that.
