Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT A “lump in throat” or globus sensation is a common complaint in patients with chronic pharyngitis, and it is frequently associated with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) / Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR). The persistent acid exposure leads to mucosal irritation, chronic inflammation of the pharynx, and a constant foreign body sensation.

Next Steps

If symptoms persist beyond 6–8 weeks despite medical management, nearby ENT evaluation with nasopharyngolaryngoscopy is recommended to rule out structural causes (like vocal cord lesions, pharyngeal growths, or chronic tonsillitis).
