Low hemoglobin levels

My wife is in her 7th month of pregnancy and is taking calcium, iron and folic acid supplements daily. Her hemoglobin level is 9.9. What is the minimum required level? How can she improve her hemoglobin?

hi, minimum required level in indian female is 12 gm%, so if your hb is not improved by iron tablet, you should take iron sucrose injection , 2 injection in 100 ml saline for 3 day

If you have been taking iron preparations regularly and still the levels are low, you will require further evaluation. If you have started iron preparations recently, the levels should rise to optimum by delivery, if iron preparations are taken regularly.
