Loss of taste sensation on tongue
Since last year my mother is suffering from BMS (burning mouth syndrome) different doctors had given meds but didn't stick as there is no exact medicine. My mom isn't able to taste any food which is why she barely eats and cant even taste the water its metallic. She has high pressure.

BMS is difficult but not hopeless. Important question â what BP medicines is she on? Many antihypertensives (especially ACE inhibitors, diuretics) cause metallic taste and dry mouth which makes BMS significantly worse. Also get Zinc and B12 levels checked as deficiencies directly cause taste loss and burning mouth.

Get Zinc, B12 and folate levels tested. Ask her BP doctor if switching the BP medicine is an option. Alpha lipoic acid 600mg daily has some evidence for BMS relief â discuss with her doctor. Consult me on Practo for a detailed management plan.

As its already one year the chances to cure it are not much..

Sin e long history, better to take, vitb12, VitD3, thyroid profile blood test. Let her Avoid spicy and masala food.
