Leaden paralysis
I had depression from which I have partially recovered. Now I am suffering from what I understand is Leaden Paralysis. That is, if I am 60 kilos, I feel that I am 120 kilos. A doctor had prescribed daxid 25 mg. I have taken it for 50 days. The leaden feeling still persists and I feel very drowsy. Please let me know how long I will have to take daxid and how soon can I expect improvement.

Hi, You didnt mention whether u recovered from depression after taking medications or not. Leaden paralysis can be seen in melancholic depression. Also i need to know about your appetite n sleep ,weight gain to confirm melancholic depression. But one point is clear that u had depressive episode and didn't recover completely. The dose of sertaline(Daxid) should be increased to 50mg ,which is effective dose.so,first increase to 50mg and see the response in 2weeks. Even then if there is no response, then we can change the medication. Once u start the treatment for depression, u should continue for atleast 6-9months depending on response
