Lack of memory

My father has been a chain smoker now for the past so many years. But recently I have observed he is become very lethargic, lost interest in everything and also forgets things. Though he has reduced his smoking but not completely. Can the above mentioned symptoms be results of smoking? Kindly advice.

hello der your father is suffering from vascular dementia smoking is the main cause symptoms:- Problems with short-term memory Wandering or getting lost in familiar surroundings Laughing or crying at inappropriate times Trouble concentrating, planning, or following through on activities Trouble managing money Inability to follow instructions Loss of bladder or bowel control Hallucinations or delusions avoid smoking and consult neurologist.
