Issues post stopping rifaximin
Hi, 1 month back dr prescribed rifagut 400mg 3 times for 3 days & florachamp for 5 days for diarrhea due to food poison. No issues during 3 days.  But post that till now its been 1 month. My left and right abdomen feels tight throught the day on and off and also have hard/dry stools. Is it just gut dysbiosis that resolve naturally?  Or it it sibo/imo? I also take duphalac for fissure and constipation

your symptoms are more likely related to altered bowel motility/gut flora after the episode of food poisoning and the subsequent antibiotic course, along with constipation, rather than automatically indicating SIBO/IMO. Abdominal tightness or bloating with hard, dry stools can occur after gastroenteritis, and constipation itself can contribute significantly to these symptoms. Post-infectious bowel symptoms are well recognised after gastroenteritis
Next Steps
focus on regular bowel movements and keeping the stool soft. Continue Duphalac as prescribed for your fissure, maintain good hydration, gradually increase dietary fibre, and avoid unnecessary antibiotics or additional probiotics/antimicrobials on your own. Since symptoms have persisted for a month, if they do not improve despite constipation being controlled, I would recommend a clinical review rather than assuming it is SIBO/IMO.
Health Tips
Please seek earlier medical review if you develop persistent or severe abdominal pain, vomiting, fever, blood or black stools, unexplained weight loss, marked abdominal distension, or inability to pass stool/gas.
