Really sorry to hear that you’ve been suffering from this condition for 6 years. It would be really difficult for you.
First thing is to make sure that the diagnosis is right. I hope that you’ve been evaluated for and ruled out other bowel conditions before making this diagnosis. If the diagnosis is correct, there are different lines of treatment to keep you symptom free and improve your quality of life. That also means that you have to continue to be on treatment. Stress reduction, exercise, diet, fibre intake and medications all have a role in keeping you symptom free.
