IAD Illness Anxiety Disorder
I have done all the tests (ECG ECHO CRP CBC ULTRASOUND) and all the tests are normal Still he feels unwell . I think he is suffering from IAD (Illness Anxiety Disorder ) Want to understand on how is it to be treated

First of all we need to assess the person to say it is illness anxiety. It could be other problems such as OCD, or GAD. The treatment depends on the diagnosis , severity of symptoms and functional difficulties Normally illness anxiety is treated with short course of anti anxiety medications combined with Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is the first-line treatment for IAD.Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on treating the patient's dysfunctional maladaptive cognitive beliefs by behavioral modification strategies. Pharmacological drugs are the second-line treatment for IAD. Antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) are proven to be effective in this condition.
