I have no exsisting symptoms of herpis but I did a blood test and the results came back positive 3.50 for herpis simplex igg.
I wanted to know if I should take some treatment or show a doctor for it or is it nothing to be worried about ?

Hi there...I can understand your concern. First did you get tested for herpes simplex 1 or 2? IgG usually indicates a past infection. IgM indicates present infection. So according to the report you might have had herpes simplex infection. If you are getting recuurent blisters around mouth or in the genitals(more than 3 episodes a year), then you can be started on acyclovir suppressive therapy to contain the infection. It will prevent recuurent herpes infections. You can consult a dermatologist for further evaluation.

Hello, I went through your query, igG antibody indicates, your immunity to past infection. It is the igM antibody that tells you, you have present on going infection. If there are active lesions right now and igM antibody is positive then you need to take antiviral treatment for it (there is no cure, it only suppress the infection). If there are no active lesions and igM is negative, nothing to worry for now. If still have doubts please consult a general physician.
