Herpes prevention with infected partner

I recently met someone that I really like and the person told me they have herpes. He said that it's in his blood and cannot infect me. This person was married once and said he never infected his wife nor does his kids have it. He said we could go to the Dr together. Is there a type that is just in the blood that cannot infect me?
