"Hello. Thank you for reaching out to me. I understand this is a tough time for you. The fact that you are aware of your gambling addiction, is the first step of recovery. Gambling addiction can be really tough to get over, but it is possible! Here are a few self-help strategies for you. However, it is recommended you seek professional help for more effective results. No addiction stands in itself. There is often a certain situation or feeling that one tries to avoid and instead gambles it away. Try to find the trigger. When do you feel the most urge to gamble? What preceeds the feeling? Once you know your trigger, try to actively and consciously stop it. Next, carry less cash or put a caps limit to the amount of money you can spend at once. Remember everything that you can lose if you relapse into gambling - like your home, career, family, and anything that matters to you Get professional help. Every situation is unique.
Next Steps
Reflect on your thoughts
Health Tips
If things still feel overwhelming, it would be advisable to talk to a therapist.
