You could be suffering from a progressive female pattern hairloss. A lot of factors are responsible for this. You may not have all factors but if untreated it will keep progressing. The further it progresses the lesser response you will have to treatment. Weight gain, hormonal imbalance (irregular menstrual periods), sedentary lifestyle, oily scalp, dandruff, nutritional deficiencies and genetic factors are responsible for this. Medical treatment from a dermatologist will help you to stop the hairfall and regrow hair to a certain extent. The shampoo will be chosen depending on your scalp (oily/dry/dandruff prone). You will need to follow up with the Dermatologist once in 3 to 4 months. Depending in the response to treatment other procedures may be suggested like PRP, Light therapy, microneedling etc. Another similar but rarer condition is generalised alopecia areata where you hair roots are being attacked by cells in your own body (called as autoimmune disease). This will require different kind of treatment. There are several other diseases like frontal fibrosing alopecia, lichen planopilaris, deficiency of vitamins or minerals or diseases affecting the other organs of the body and causing hairloss (thyroid disorders, blood dyscrasia etc). You will need to be evaluated by a dermatologist to make a confirmatory diagnosis so you can be started on the correct treatment. Warm regards. Dr. Rajdeep Mysore. Chirag Hospital Bangalore
