Hair thinning at hairline – finasteride
Hello Doctor, I am 20 years old and experiencing gradual thinning in the frontal scalp/hairline from the past few years. I have used topical minoxidil in the past, but stopped and the gained hair was lost. I want to avoid minoxidil and am considering low-dose finasteride. I would like your guidance on: • Whether finasteride is suitable for me • Oral vs topical finasteride • Safe starting dose I have no known medical conditions. Thank you.

Young man, Finasteride does help - both oral and topical Which to use depends on multiple factors and given your age, will require counselling (if dependent on parents) and medical evaluation before starting oral finasteride. Combination of the two may work best once it is decided upon. Safe starting dose will depend on your body weight and other factors.
