Hi sir, My wife is having a goitre.having swelling at neck region.some Doctors are telling to go for surgery and removal of goitre.is any medicines to cure goitre.if there plz suggest me

Swelling in the thyroid gland is known as goitre. There are various causes for goitre and treatment depends on the cause. Surgery is necessary in big goitre causing cosmetic problems or in goiter diagnosed as cancer of thyroid. Small benign goitre can be left alone without any consequences. You need to get thyroid function tests, fine needle aspiration cytology and ultrasound of the neck so that treatment can be planned
