Women who has Gestational Diabetes ( GDM) need to keep their blood sugar under strict control as it can be risk for both mother and baby . Your blood sugar fasting should be ideally below 95 and your post meal sugars should be below 120 if done after 2 hours or below 140 If Done after 1 hours . GDM can be treated with diet called medical nutrition therapy (MNT) . If your target is not achieved by MNT. . You will need to be on insulin which is the safest drug in pregnancy for controlling blood sugar .
Next Steps
You should do self monitoring of glucose by a Glucometer at home and maintain a proper log book of it . You should reduced all refined carbs form your diet. You should take complex carbs and include protein and fiber in your diet .
