General question on clinic practices
I went to a clinic for some treatment (anterior teeth fillings for inter proximal cavities). The dentist I had taken an appointment to see for treatment redirected me to a young duty doctor whom he instructed to do the fillings for me. The senior dentist did not check on me again after the procedure. I am quite unhappy with the fillings quality. (I can't floss between four of my restored teeth now and I have to go see the dentist again for the same). On another note, is it alright for dentists to re-assign you to the duty doctors there even though you had specifically made an appointment with them? Are patients allowed to voice their consent regarding the same? No offence intended, I'm just quite anxious at having to go to the dentist again as I have severe dental anxiety already. I was wondering if this is standard practice in clinics.

This is a common problem...since in dentistry every patient is treated surgically and prescription based practice is absolutely impossible.... sometimes it may not be possible for the chief doctor to treat all the patients. Hence the juniors come in to place. U can re do your fillings and u will be fine
Next Steps
consult the dentist and explain your problem

Good morning dear mam/sir, It is always important and good to have a long term relationship with your doctor or dentist. You both have to mutually trust each other. In this regard,  if you have any issues with the treatment,  it's good to go back and sincerely raise your genuine concern with them.  They will understand and sort the problem out. No need to be scared,  no need to question their functioning etc. It's a very simple issue with your fillings and nothing of much concern. In case, they don't respond correctly,  look for someone else,  who is good.  The issue you are facing can happen with any dentist working on similar cases as of yours.  So don't worry.
Next Steps
You can get your issue corrected with the approach I have suggested above.
Health Tips
Dentists work based on allotting work to their associates based on what they are good at and they know whom to give what work. In case,  you have specific choice of a dentist,  you may tell them that and get your choice of dentist. But, my advice to all patients is to give freedom to your doctors or dentists in their functioning,  but you may put across your genuine concerns too and get them fulfilled. Ultimately we want to give you the best treatment,  and you too can genuinely ask for  that.

You can raise your concern to the dentist concerned. The work may be assigned to another dentist. However, if you are not happy with what has been done, you can definitely raise concerns. I am sure they would help you.
