Gangrene of right leg toe
Hi doctor. My friend's father has gt gangrene his thumb of right leg was amputated six months ago. The wound did not heal n now d doc asked to do a arterial doppler test for both legs. The blood flow in both legs is very less. They are yet to visit the orthopaedic surgeon after getting the reports. The surgeon was of the view that the maximum part amputated is better for higher success rate is it true ? The toe looks dead and he is talking of cutting off d leg from the calf area. Will this work ?

Hello there. I can understand your concern. When medicines are given, they reach a particular site only if there is proper blood supply. When there is no proper blood supply, then oxygen will also not reach the site. Till there is blood supply, slightly above that amputation has to be done . So what he has done is absolutely right. Best regards.
