I had got braces in 2008 and then got retainers in 2010 I think. Since then I am using retainers in upper jaw. Braces were used to close the gap between front two teeth.
Now my retainer got broken . I need a permanent solution to this.
Shall I go for frenectomy which has been suggested by one of the dentist's , as it is the reason for the gap.
Please suggest suitable solution. Pros and cons as well.

Frenum is not a single reason for space closure failure, it depends on many factors , visit orthodontist,. As an orthodontist I will suggest to go for treatment and after space closure permanent lingual retainer should b given in ur case
Frenectomy is a good option in many cases with gap like the one u r describing , if the frenum is interfering . There r many causes for this gap for eg. It could b mouth breathing , in which case a frenectomy won't help u . A doctor has to evaluate what is the reason for this n correct the underlying issue. Hope u find a solution soon. Take care :)
