FDP or Flexor digitorum Profundus helps in gripping by forceful flexion of fingers. If the MRI suggests tear as you have mentioned, it will require surgical repair.

FDP tear surgical repair after 7-10 days of injury will be very difficult. Hence you need to be evaluated quickly. Please meet an orthopaedic hand surgeon.
