Exercises & equipments for strong lungs
I've to appear for PET (1600 m in 6 min. 30 sec.) for sub-inspector in a month. I recently have a minor hairline fracture on both of my legs (below the knee) so the doctor has advised me to take rest for a while from running. During my training I realised that while I do have the muscle power that is required for running but what I really struggled with was my BREATHLESSNESS. I don't know how long it will take to heal completely but during this time I want to enhance my lung muscles through exercises and equipments if anyone can suggest. Thanks

Buy a spirometer. Try to lift and hold the balls in it . Try doing it on a regular basis. It will help you in increasing your lung capacity. You can search youtube for the procedure.( Just type how to use spirometer). Can do other exercises like  anulome vilome and pranayama etc. Avoid smoking. Add antioxidant food to your diet like tomatoes, nuts , green leafy vegetables, fruits, garlic, turmeric etc Keep your self hydrated .
