Executive dysfunction and no working mem
Hi sir/madam, I have had executive dysfunction since childhood to the point that I'm paralyzed most of the time until and unless its extremely important to do any action like eating at least once per day, I take high calorie mass shakes to manage the calorie deficit. My grandmom spoonfed me throughout my childhood, I'd starve myself if she didn't feed me forcibly with her hands. I failed each and every math test from year 5 to year 12 and I forget what someone said 20 seconds after in the middle of the conversation. My mother has been mentally ill since I was born and cannot function without heavy medication. Even with all this, my family never took me to a doctor because of the stigma. All I want is to sit and do at least basic things without the fidgeting. I have wasted 26 years of my life and seeking help now. Please advise the steps I should take.

You seem to be right in your assessment that a lot of time has been spent without any treatment for your condition of executive dysfunction. This condition is treatable in broad terms, but needs proper assessment of the underlying causes for that. Going forward step by step, I would suggest you to get your brain condition assessed first by a neurologist. This is because in many cases, executive dysfunction could be because of some brain related issues. Along with this, the doctor is likely to assess the condition of your physical health too. Once this is done, your doctor will be able to suggest if any brain-related treatment is needed. The next step should be an assessment by a psychiatrist for the gauging of your mental health condition and treatment thereafter as required. As you start treatment from either of them, please consult a psychologist to get guided on improving your psychological and behavioral conditions. Please continue with the treatment and the support from the psychologist for as long as you feel the necessity in developing self confidence. As already mentioned, your condition is curable to a great extent and the success of the treatment will depend largely on the diagnosis of the causes and professional handling of the treatment by these three professionals. Yet I would say that the most important factor in it would be your own determination, commitment and optimistic outlook.
Next Steps
Please start with the assessment of your condition through the doctor.
