Erosive esophagitis
After endoscopy it is found erosive esophagitis. GE junction at 40cm. Erosive esophagitis seen at lower end. No ulcer or varix noticed. No hiatus hernia seen. Stomach , duodenum is all normal. RUT is negative. I have been prescribed medicines and diet modification. Medicine provided for 3 months. Proper diet to be followed for 6 months. Is this totally curable and can I lead a normal life after 6 months? How much time it takes to heal this?

Care AI Shimmer
Yes, it is result of Acid regurgitation eroding the oesophagial mucosa near the gastric end. Follow the treatment as prescribed. If you are over weight try to reduce your weightso that abdominal pressure does not push gastric contents and acid in oesophagus. At present its good that there is no hiatus hernia but if obesity is there it may set in and comlicate GERD.

The answer is "No". You should be prepared for life long medicines with few gaps intermittently. You will take one set of medicines for 2 months. Then you will get fed up and ask the Doctor to change the medicines. This will continue like that
