My mother is having bp around 160-170 by 80.she is taking azulix and glyciphage sr in morning,calchek 5 two time,enace 7.5 at night,macalvit 500 night she is having coughing problem at night.is the medicine ok or does she need further treatment. her blood sugar hb1ac 7.3.urine report ok.cholesterol ok

Hello. Your mother is both diabetic & hypertensive. Her target systolic BP should be less 140mm Hg and HbA1c should be less than 7. In her case, both of these are higher than normal, which needs to be controlled. She will need change or addition of other drugs for control of her BP & sugar. Firstly Enace contains enalapril which causes coughing. So it needs to be changed. Also Glyciphage SR needs to be taken at bedtime rather than in morning. Please follow up with me as a detailed examination is needed for change of medications. Hope this helps.
