My baby is 2 months old, he is having dry cough for the last 1 week, the cough is happening only 2-3 times a day. Apart from this he has no other abnormal symptoms. Kindly suggest what we should do and what could be the issue.

Hello,
Mild dry cough in this age is often due to:
Post-viral airway sensitivity after a mild cold
Environmental factors like dust, perfumes, or indoor air pollution
Normal airway clearing in some infants
This does not look like a serious infection such as bronchiolitis, pneumonia, or whooping cough because: There is no fever, Baby is feeding well and active, No fast or labored breathing, Cough is occasional and dry
Next Steps
At this age, no cough syrups or medications are recommended.
No antibiotics are needed unless there’s infection.
If nose is blocked, saline nasal drops before feeds may help.
Keep baby away from smoke, incense, strong perfumes, and dust. Ensure good room ventilation and avoid very cold or dry air. Use a humidifier or place a bowl of water in the room if air is dry. Breastfeeding should be continued as usual.
