Drug interaction during covid
My mother is taking olanzapine 5 mg and fluoxetine 40 mg for past 10 years. As there is rise in COVID cases,.I want to know if olanzapine and fluoxetine can be taken with hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and oseltamivir if the need arises. Will there be drug interactions if these drugs are taken with olanzapine and fluoxetine?. Please clarify.

Hello..hydroxychloroquine, olanzapine are known to cause few changes in ECG.. there should be no problem as such to continue all the medications if the need arises. However u must tell your treating clinician about all the medications your mother is on if there's any need to alter the dose of any medicine

Hi, Thanks for your query. Azithromycin with olanzapine and fluoxetine can cause some ECG changes. But I suggest you don’t worry until the need arises. And if in case she needs to take these drugs pre inform her consultant so that they take precautions. Take care. Stay safe.
Next Steps
Nothing. Just go about your daily activities. Holds true for your mother too.
