Does Cat Hair cause Respiratory Problems

Hi I have a cat and it's 5 months old. I have been getting comments from my relatives saying I should keep my cat away from my bed as it's hair causes some breathing problems. Please clarify if this is true or what is the potential harm that a cat hair can cause. Complete clarity regarding this will be very helpful. Thank you
