Do antipsychotics work region specific?
31. Male. 5'5".77 kg. Taking invega sustenna 150 mg monthly depot since June 2024 and taloprex since last week. My doctor says invega works region specific and won't affect dopamine activity in regions like prefrontal cortex. But AI says it blocks dopamine throughout the brain. Who is correct?

Trust your doctor. Ai will also tell you that medication will cause you harm . Which is completely wrong. Ai is model trained through literature. Doctor is trained through actual patient experience. Trusting doctor over ai is right choice.

The mechanism of drugs should not be your concern. The concern should be to regain the quality of life. If the drugs are doing well then why do you worry.

The mechanism of action is not as simple as blocks it everywhere, please trust your doctor though the mechanism of that drug is much more complex but he tried explaining in a best way you would understand.ai is not accurate in this.

Hi, the doctor is correct. It's a second generation antipsychotic. So they have less blockade in the prefrontal cortex.

Paliperidone (Invega Sustenna) is not region-specific; it blocks D2 receptors in multiple brain pathways, including cortical regions. The “pathway-specific” concept refers to different clinical effects, not selective D2 blockade.
