Hair fall and weight gain are the known side effects of this medication. What medications have you tried before? And how are you doing on this medication.

Hair fall and weight gain are known side effects of divalproex (Diva OD / valproate). Short answer: • Do not stop suddenly. • Check thyroid profile, LFT, and serum valproate level. • Hair fall may improve with dose reduction, biotin supplementation, or switching medication. • For weight gain: structured diet + 30–45 min daily exercise; sometimes dose adjustment helps. If side effects are significant, discuss alternatives like lithium, lamotrigine, or an atypical antipsychotic depending on episode profile (mania vs depression predominance). Medication change should be done only under psychiatrist supervision.

Hello. Diva Od can cause these side effects. But there are other factors too, which should be considered. Proper evaluation is required as not your BPAD symptoms are also controlled
Next Steps
Consultation to a psychiatrist and a dermatologist. Lifestyle modifications including excercise, healthy dietary habits
