If you have not taken a tetanus toxoid (TT) vaccine in the last five years, you must take it now. Please understand that injury with metals have high risk of catching tetanus spores, more so if it has rust or dust, dirt or soil on it. Tetanus is like rabies. Once we develop, there is no cure. So better be prepared to prevent it with vaccine. The success of tetanus and rabies vaccination has meant that I have seen only one TETANUS case and three RABIES cases in all my medical career spanning 9 years.
Next Steps
Get TT vaccine

Prevention is better because there is no cure
