Congenital clasped thumb is a congenital flexion-adduction deformity of the thumb that persists beyond the 3rd or 4th month of life. It is further classified into 3 types depending on the mobility of the thumb. There are 2 options of treatment one is non operative and the other operative. In non operative comes the option of serial splinting and stretching for 3-6 months all types are generally put through this as the first line, it is more effective in Type I than in the other 2 types. In operative options come EIP tendon transfer to EPL, thumb reconstruction and arthrodesis, the selection of type of surgery is dependent upon the underlying anatomy. I would advise you to meet a pediatric orthopedician.
